Apples, colors, and hands...oh my!

I entered the above photo in a contest that asked for three things: it needs to include an apple, a child, and have lots of color. I put my thinking cap on and did one shot each with both of my boys. It was a difficult decision to choose, but it came down to the above photo of my oldest son. I know it may not include ALL of the child, but I thought it was pretty cute...not to mention FILLED with color!! Can you say vivid?! :)

Turtle Love

I took my youngest son out to the park in his new turtle costume to get some cute shots for Halloween pictures (my oldest son is sick, so his will have to wait). I think I was more excited that I was going to be able to shoot in manual mode and really have some control of what exactly I wanted to photograph and how. Considering it was my first "session" shooting in manual mode I am very pleased with how the pictures turned out. Lots of printable ones for sure! I'm excited to broaden my horizon when it comes to photography. I love this camera and manual mode!

Once again...
I am having to reschedule due to a tropical storm. How frustrating! This time his name is Humberto. He is due to come up right through my town around midnight with 50MPH winds, flooding, and possible tornadoes. Sounds like fun eh? I was excited to do my first senior session this evening and now it is going to have to wait until next week. Bummer.
And yes, I realize there is a tropical storm coming through my town and the one thing that comes to my mind first as disappointing is having to reschedule a session...lol. And just for the record - he turned east and didn't hit our town. Whew! :)

Say hello...

...to my little friend! And my friend has a few other friends too (50mm and 85mm lens)! I am excited to take the leap towards DSLR photography. I can't wait to see what I can come up with now. For the past few days...and days to come...I have been a reading mad woman soaking up as much information regarding exposure and DSLR photography as I can. I still have lots to read - including my manual on my new toys. I just wanted to share a picture of my new found love! :)

R - Sneak Peak

I had the pleasure of having a session with two little cuties today. We had a bit of a rough patch with the younger brother who was sleepy, but ended up with some good shots. These two little guys are going to be some heart breakers when they are older! More pictures coming your way soon...here is your sneak peak!
Nursery

Today my youngest son turned 8 months old (where did the time go?!?). I wanted to do some pictures for him and decided to do them in his nursery since I didn't when he was younger. It was great practice for me letting me put my creative hat on and get a few unique shots. He was a willing model allowing me to move him and place him all around his nursery. The only thing he kept doing was trying to crawl away every now and again. I'm really happy with how they turned out. And yes, that is a belly shot of me when I was 8 months pregnant framed in his room...from belly to baby! :)
